DISEASE
We've talked about books related to cancer and survivorship previously. This time, I'd like to hear what you're reading for fun?
I'm a classic reader, so I love anything historical, biographical or just plain classic. Some of my favorite classic authors are Mark Twain, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare and Leo Tolstoy. Along with the classics, I enjoy everything from detective series to travel memoirs.
Think about books just for a moment. We begin reading with our parents as children. As we continue to grow and learn, we develop our own interests and taste in literature. Books are a big part of who we are, past and present.
Reading is a wonderful way to forget about your daily worries, relax and unwind. I love to curl up with a book at the end of the day for 30 minutes just prior to going to sleep. It's one of my favorite ways to de-stress and let go prior to falling to sleep.
If you feel like it might be a challenge to concentrate to read a book, try an audio book instead. You can find these at your public library and other book stores.
You may also want to consider forming or joining a book club. They're a great way to get ideas for new books and be in the company of others who love to read. Laughter and social time are typically included, which is always a plus for your spirit.
Tell me about recent books that you couldn't wait to pick up and didn't want to put down. I'd love to hear about your favorites. Feel free to share with others through the blog.
